POLICY.
The short version: JunkNot never reads your personal messages or notification content. We only look at notification metadata to identify spam. Your notification content never leaves your device. Ever.
1. Who We Are
JunkNot ("we", "us", "our") is a notification spam blocking application for Android devices. We are the developers and operators of the JunkNot app available on the Google Play Store (com.junknot.app) and the website at junknot.app.
By using JunkNot, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What Information We Collect
2.1 Notification Metadata (Anonymous)
When you use JunkNot to block a notification, we collect and transmit the following anonymised, non-personal information to improve our AI classification:
- The app package name (e.g., com.uber.driver)
- The notification channel ID and channel name
- Whether the notification was marked as spam or not
- A spam confidence score (0–100)
- Timestamp of the classification event
We never collect, transmit, or store:
- The content of any notification (titles, body text, messages)
- The content of any personal messages, emails, or communications
- Any information that identifies you personally
- Your contacts, photos, location, or any other device data
2.2 Account Information (Optional — Pro Users)
If you choose to create an account to access Pro features, we collect:
- Your email address (via Google Sign-In)
- Your subscription status
- Your JunkNot rules (to sync across devices)
Account creation is entirely optional. The free tier of JunkNot requires no account and collects no personal information whatsoever.
2.3 Purchase Information
If you subscribe to JunkNot Pro, purchases are processed by Google Play and RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card details. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status.
2.4 Crash and Performance Data
We may collect anonymised crash reports and performance data to improve app stability. This data contains no personal information and no notification content.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the notification blocking service
- To train and improve our AI spam classification model
- To manage your Pro subscription if applicable
- To sync your rules across devices if you have an account
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your information to third parties. Ever.
4. Notification Access Permission
JunkNot requires Android's Notification Listener permission to function. This permission allows JunkNot to read notification metadata in real time so it can identify and block spam patterns.
What we do with this access:
- Read notification metadata (app, channel, category) to match against your block rules
- Dismiss notifications that match your rules
- Store blocked notifications locally on your device for your junk folder
What we never do with this access:
- Read or store the text content of notifications from messaging, email, or communication apps
- Transmit any notification content to our servers
- Share notification data with any third party
- Use notification access for any purpose other than spam blocking
You can revoke this permission at any time in your Android Settings. Revoking permission will disable JunkNot's core functionality.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your JunkNot rules and blocked notification records are stored locally on your device using Android's Room database. If you have a Pro account, your rules are also synced to our secure cloud database (Supabase) hosted on infrastructure that is SOC 2 compliant.
Our anonymised classification signals are stored securely and are never linked to any individual user. We use industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use Supabase (database), RevenueCat (subscriptions), and Google Play (distribution). Each operates under their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you of any such change.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access any personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of anonymised data collection (contact us to disable)
- Revoke notification access permission at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@junknot.app.
8. Children's Privacy
JunkNot is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email if you have an account. Your continued use of JunkNot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
